KP govt claims to complete three power projects of 55.6MW by Dec 2015...

Three electricity generation plants of 55.6MW in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be completed by December 2015.

According to an Energy and Power Department of KP, the projects include Machi Mardan with generation capacity of 2.6MW and Ranolia Kohistan with 17MW and Swat Dararkhwar with 36MW capacity.

Work on Machi Mardan and Ranolia Kohistan has been already completed and would be inaugurated shortly, he said, adding work on Swat Darakhwar was in full swing and would be completed by end of this year. The completion of these projects would help provide inexpensive electricity besides irrigating thousands of acres of barren land in the province.

He said the government is giving top priority to energy and electricity sector and would spend more than Rs1.40 billion on 39 energy projects in the upcoming fiscal year with focus on construction of Naran dam with power generation capacity of 188MW in district Manshera, construction of power stations of Gorband at Shangla district, Nand Bahar at Batagram, Mojigram Shagoor, Astar Rabooni, Arkari Gol at Chitral that would generate 206MW electricity upon completion.

Small power stations at Shringal Dir Upper, Patrak Barikot in Swat and Segokatch would also be constructed that would generate 171MW electricity. Furthermore, the Govt would construct 10microhydle power plants on canals besides setting up of a technical laboratory in the province.

The saddest part is that the federal govt is bound by law to build transmission lines to these plants in order to feed them to the national grid, but the fed hasnt done a lick towards doing that. One would argue that they are doing this because this is KPK, and they are trying to undermine PTI govt by not taking their electricity, so that they can 'prove' that PTI nay kpk mein kya kar liya......but the sad fact is that they havent done this elsewhere either. The much touted Quaid solar park is supposedly able to generate 100MW of power by now..but none of that is making into the national grid, because no transmission lines have been put in.

In the meantime, more power to PTI and KPK govt. KPK residents are now enjoying uninterrupted, round the clock, extremely cheap electricity off the grid. This is called long term planning.....not just lame 5 year plans.
