It sucks when you have to travel with green passport: transit visa required for Portugal as well

Few days back , I posted a thread asking, if I need a US transit visa If I have a connection flight in US. Answer I found was yes. I have flight on 7th of Sep. I immediately applied for the visa, paid fee and had an appointment next day at US embassy Brazil. The Normal processing time is 3-5 working days.

But at embassy, after a long interview, they required some additional documents, and an additional 2 weeks time, though I had a letter from university, letter from supervsior, invitation letters from conferences in UK, visa for UK and my confirmed tickets and it was just 3 hours stay at the airport. They said, its because you are applying from a country for which you dont hold the nationality, but I know what was the actuall reason.

I left with no other option but to buy a new ticket, I found a new route though Portugal to UK, and just bfore making the payment, I thougt to check, and found being Pakistani I also need a transit visa for a connection flight in Portugal (http://www.portugal.com/information/visa) , I just stunned. though its not yet confirmed. Its weekend and I cant call any embassy.

Just found that out of 189 countries, there are only 32 , where the Pakistani passport holders dont need a transit visa, which 2nd lowest number after afganistan..

. we even canttravel .. wanted to abuse Zardai, Nawaz, those corrupt politians and estabilishment and all those responsible.. its time to threw all these out of Pakistan..

You will find majority of PTI supporters and members talking against dual nationality but they never think that dual nationality is also one of the legitimate purpose of travelling and avoiding for long delays in getting visa for different countries all the time...........I dont know whether they are same with all dual nationality holders or only with Dr Tahir ul Qadri who even needs to travel worldwide frequently in more than 90 countries to his MQI network....and important programs...!! your very example is enough for all those blind opponents of dual nationality ...!!

I am surprise that there are not direct flights from Brazil to UK.

If you are trying to get a transit visa from a country that you are not citizen of they take longer and require more information. More people end up claiming refugee at the country of transit that get transit visa from the country of origin.

I had same problems when flying from ozz but never had trouble obtaining transit visa, mine took 4 hours at embassy, may be I provided them with all correct documentation/I got a nice officer but I do understand the frustation. So glad I don't have to worry abt it anymore!

no ayaaz khan I heared before it was transit visa given to pakistanis thru USA, but as soon as they landed they hired a US attorney and said we need asylum due to being part of MQM, or army after me, or we r PPP they r after us, or we Nawaz group same thing and many RICH pakistanis got toursit visa and stayed back invested in buisness andthen got immigration. So we destroyed their trust and after 911 a muslim country forget about it. But still people do get US visas, I dont know who to blame as green passport was abused all over europe, UK etc etc with shady activities, money laundering, we really need to work our behavior as muslims to bring back the glory to green passport.(bigsmile)

You are dumbf*ck with actually not an iota of logic.

What does PTI have to do with any of the things that he mentioned or facing? Most of the garbage behaviour hat we face from tranvelling other countries is not because of PTI. Its because Pakistanis themesleves are involved in illegal activities and stays. Most of all its the ruling elite and governments that have given away Pakistanis without asking for their rights to travel honourably. When was PTI in the government to be declared responsible for that?

It is not fault of govt when our visas get rejection stamps. I learn this from my friend who work for UK embassy in Canada. He told me most of time when people apply for visa either they provide wrong documentation or when they come for interview they are unable to give satisfactory reason of their traveling.

5 year ago i had to travel to States. I did not have job only thing i had was my statement and letter which shows my uncle was in hospital. When i went for interview they asked harsh question but i took firm in my answer and got visa right on spot and it all happen on Pakistani Passport.

I guess you lack somewhere to satisfy visa officer about your situation next time try to be straight forward and you will get stamped. Good luck

I am extreme patriotic , always defended Pakistan here, when my fellows raise questions, but today it was the worst day..

I will see how will you behave when you have to face a situation like this
