This is from a Khatira a Scholaer gave
قَالَ اللَّهُ أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي
“Allah said, ‘I am to my slave as he thinks of me.’ Too often, when we read this narration we glide past it without much reflection. In today’s khatira, I want to share with you the explanation of this hadith given by various renowned scholars and a few among the pious ancestors. Some of these explanations are as follows:
- 1. This means that Allah is saying, “I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him.”
- 2. Expecting the best of Allah is to expect that He will have Mercy on him and relieve him of hardship.
- 3. This means that Allah will forgive him if he seeks forgiveness, will accept his repentance if he repents, will answer him if he supplicates, and will suffice him if he asks for something.
