Iran asks Pak to hand over terrorists

TEHRAN: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari on Monday to arrest and hand over "known terrorists," the Iranian leader's office said on its website.

In a telephone call, the Iranian president "asked Zardari to order his country's security forces to quickly arrest known terrorists and hand them over to the Islamic Republic of Iran," Ahmadinejad's office said in a statement posted on its website.

The phone call followed a suicide attack last week in the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar that killed 39 people during a Shiite mourning procession.

The attack was claimed by Sunni militant group Jundallah (Army of God), which Iran claims receives support from the intelligence services of Pakistan, Britain and the United States.

"The perpetrators of this act are not only non-Muslims, but belong to no religion," the website quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Zardari.

Jundallah says it is fighting for the rights of the ethnic Sunni Baluchis in the Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The group has been accused of carrying out several such deadly attacks in Sistan-Baluchestan.

The website said that Zardari told Ahmadinejad Pakistan would not hesitate to help eradicate terrorism.

The whole world and almost every Pakistani has proofs (every city of Pakistan has been attacked by these Talibans) that Talibans are terrorists, do you have any single proof against these three leaders. Just because they are not from your own party, they are terrorists? I would say becaus of these three people you are living and breathing in a still independent (NOT INVADED) Pakistan. I am NOT a fan of Zardari, but it is a fact that his slogan of "PAKISTAN KHAPEY" is enough to admire him.

You guys still look Wikipedia and Oxford to know what does WEST mean when they use this word "Terrorism" becuase we have a different meaning for it but you guys shuould have some respect when you use Shaheed Zia Ul Haq's name. "Zia Islamisation" is taught in Pakistan in higher studies and he has done a lot for Pakistan and Islam. We should not differentiate between Pakistan and Islam, Islam will always comes first and that's what Zia did, his efforts for assurance of Islamic laws implementation will always be appreciated. I may sound childish but this is what History proves that He was the best Muslim leader Pakistan ever had.

Iran has executed 11 members of the Pakistan-based Jundullah terrorist group in the Iranian southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province, a judiciary official says.


"Eleven members of those belonging to Jundullah terrorist group who had played a role in carrying out terrorist attacks in the province (Sistan-Baluchestan) during the recent months, fighting with police, and martyring several innocent people have been hanged in Zahedan jail," IRNA quoted Ebrahim Hamidi, head of the provincial Justice Department, as saying on Monday.

The execution comes following the terrorist attack in the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar on December 15 which claimed the lives of at least 38 people and wounded more than 90 others, including women and children.

Anti-Iran terrorist group Jundallah has claimed responsibility for the deadly terrorist attack.

Jundallah terrorists have carried out numerous deadly bombings and assassination attempts in Iran, including several attacks in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan Province which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"These corrupt and Mohareb (an enemy of God) elements have been identified and arrested by security and intelligence forces," Hamidi said.

He added that the elements were brought to a fair and public trial after going through all the legal and religious procedures.

Hamidi noted that the terrorists were convicted and sentenced to death for "corruption on earth, fighting against God and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and countering the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

"The sentence was carried out after receiving confirmation from the country's senior judicial bodies," he added.

Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi was arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in February 2010 and executed in June for 79 counts of crimes, including armed robbery, bombing operations and armed attacks on police and civilians.

Rigi stated in his confessions that he had dealings with the US government and was promised unlimited funds and resources for "waging an insurgency" in Iran.
