Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq, who is set to be announced as the chairman of Pakistan cricket team's senior selection committee, took a heavy pay cut of four lakh rupees from existing monthly salary of 12 lakh that he gained from Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

Inzamam struck a deal when he agreed to reduce his monthly salary to eight lakh rupees from the 12 lakh he was getting from the Afghanistan board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to announce him as the new chief selector on Tuesday after he resigned as the head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team.

PCB chairman Shahryar Khan confirmed that Inzamam will be the new chief selector saying, "He is our choice given his vast experience and the board has reached an agreement with Inzamam after the Afghanistan board agreed to release him."

The former Test skippers appointment as a chief selector comes as a surprise after former players Iqbal Qasim, Moin Khan Mohsin Khan were considered for this position.

Inzamam, who last year was hired as the head coach of the Afghan cricket team, tasted immense success with his team upsetting the eventual ICC World T20 champions West Indies in the group stages.
