Infant mortality increased by 30% in KPK
PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A total of 1,665 new born babies have died in 2015 across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which indicates a 30 percent increase in infant mortality in the province.
According to a six-monthly report of current year prepared by the provincial health department, most number of incidents related to infant mortality occurred in Chiral where 689 new born babies died.
The report tells that 26 infants died in Peshawar, 131 in Murdan, 96 in Kohat, and 83 in Mansehra. Likewise, the health department told in its report that 93 infant deaths took place in Malakand, 68 in Upper Dir, 54 in Dera Ismail Khan, 29 in Haripur and 28 in Abbattabad.
