India's Congress admits of 80 crore people below poverty line in India

Warangal: Congress leader and former floor leader, ZPTCs (Zilla Parishad) Ghanta Narender Reddy lauded UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the successful passage of Food Security Bill in the Parliament. He averred that with this step augur to the hunger of 80 crore people below poverty line in India who would get the subsidized food items.

He was addressing the media conference in Hanamkonda on Tuesday. He said that among the democratic countries in the world, India is first in taking care of the poorer sections of the people along with the mainstream. Asserting that that it is the bold move, he felt that it is Sonia Gandhi led Congress government alone would work tirelessly for removing the poverty in the country.

Claiming the ruling coalition ruling Congress’ success in the draft of the Bill to the final passage, Congress leader countered to question that if any one stops the Bills is against the have-nots. The poor pregnant women to senior citizens were brought under the cover of all the welfare schemes including the current Food Security Bill.

Being a secular party, Ghanta Narender Reddy revealed that Congress would alone work in the interests of all sections of the people and said that Sonia Gandhi and next Rahul Gandhi were totally devoted to the public service. He urged the party cadre take the Bill to the remot areas.

That is 60 percent of Population and Pakistan is not much better either its catching up fast. Pak has much higher birth rate than India and in both countries poor are reproducing like Rabits

It's good to see Bharat accept that it's a poverty stricken hell hole. Accepting a problem is the first step in dealing with it, due to the sheer size of the country it will take centuries to eradicate this chronic problem. The world does not have enough time to see this happen.

Please correct your maths. As per the 2011 census the population of India is 1.21 billion [1]. So the percentage of food deprived people in India is

(0.8/1.21)*100 = 66.11 %

This means that according to your government, every 2 out of three people are living under poverty line in India.

This guy is trying to justify the bill passed by govt.Indian govt never even had mechanism which could get the number of poors in india.

(0.8/1.21)*100 = 66.11 %

This means that according to your government, every 2 out of three people are living under poverty line in India.

if so called stats are true then there should be more then 500 million deaths in india :lol::lol::lol: since those guys done get food.

Shame man, someone already pointed out the shameful behaviors of Indians, when faced the reality of pathetic India, they drag Pakistan in it immediately. I have said it many times, those who have visited India, confirms without any ambiguity, the poverty in India is far worse and at a different level altogether compared to Pakistan.

When I used to say that 90 crores are below poverty line in India, you were denying it, now your own government accepts it. You should be ashamed.

I don't know why you are flying off the handle. I believe that 60 percent of Indians live believe poverty level and Pakistan is at the same level or worst. It is your view that Pakistanis can live lot better on $1.00 per day than Indians, I disagree with view. The problem is that you don't accept international stats and you only go by your personal opinion.

There are several stats that put Pakistan below India and I have shown you and I will again post another one.

Pakistan at 48 poorest
India at 59
