'Indian leadership claims friendship but continues to harm Pakistan'

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that the leadership of India claims friendship with Pakistan in front of the world but continues to harm the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Rehman said that the issue of Kashmir had been unresolved for the last 65 years and India continued to commit atrocities on the people.

He urged the Indian leadership to take concrete steps for maintaining good relations with Pakistan and avoid giving mere statements.
India should not stop Pakistani water

Rehman also asked India not to stop water flow by constructing dams on Pakistani rivers. He said that this step will badly affect the agriculture sector and disrupt peace in the region.

The JUI-F chief said that under the Sindh Tas agreement, rivers including Chenab and Ravi are owned by Pakistan and that India cannot stop water from these rivers.

He said that India has established several dams on these rivers and is now busy establishing dams on the nullahs of these dams.

Rehman said India is also constructing a dam on the nullah of Chenab River, which will cause shortage of water in Pakistan.

He stated that India is producing electricity in Kashmir but the people have been deprived of it.
