Note: IMU began in 2015, but the website is launched recently to keep the public up to date!!!
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has launched Official Website of the Independent Monitoring Unit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department (www.imuhealthkp.gov.pk) to monitor the performance of health across the province.
The launching ceremony was inaugurated by Senior Minister Health Shahram Khan Tarakai here at Health Secretariat Peshawar on Friday, Flanked by Information and Health Secretary Abid Majeed and project director IMU Dr. Akhtar Said.
Talking on the occasion Senior Minister Health Shahram Khan Tarkai said that it was big achievement of the provincial government in health sector.
The time data of IMU on the facilities of hospitals will help the government to ensure all the facilities in hospitals and to take steps regarding progress in health sector, Senior Minister said.
He further said that member of IMU team will visits to all 24 district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will monitor the medicine, doctors and other health facilities availability in district headquarter hospitals, Basic Health Units and RHC.
He added that the provincial government takes all steps to improve the health sector of the province and now people feel the real change in public hospitals in the province.
On the occasion project director IMU Dr. Akhtar Saeed while giving presentation on IMU function and performance said that so far the unit has made 16000 visits to various health service delivery outlets across the province, and based on factual data it compiles a comprehensive report about the healthcare facilities being provided in those outlets and the deficiencies found them.
He added that vigilant monitoring the attendance of staff, availability of medicines, medical equipments, electricity, water and other required facilities in public sector hospitals were the main functions of the IMU.
He further said around 99 show cause were issued to Medical Officer, salaries were deducted of 320 officials, 1512 were served explanations, while the service of a number of them were terminated.
Dr. Akhter informs that because of the continuous and accurate monitoring of IMU there has been a remarkable improvement in staff attendance in government hospitals.
There has been remarkable improvement occurred in the performance of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in the province in routine Immunization campaign, he added.
He added that each IMU members has android phone and they can report in seconds about any shortcoming in hospitals which were uploaded automatically in the web-site.
He inform that that so far around 16,000 visits has done by the IMU team in different health units in the province.
He added that so far one year was completed of the IMU while it was for three years, adding that 478 million rupees has been initiated for the project while it will also be extended after three years.
On the occasion health officials including Dr. Ayub Rose from EPI, Dr. Perveez Kamal and many other were present.
