[h=1]Illegal detention: LHC asks DPO to investigate matter[/h]
The Lahore High Court here on Thursday sought by February 23 a detailed report from District Police Officer (DPO) Chiniot about the illegal detention of wife and four children of an employee of Ramzan Sugar Mill own by the Sharif family and directed him to take a strict action against the erring police officials. Earlier, the DPO appeared before the court where he expressed ignorance about the matter.

A court bailiff had recovered Amina Ali and her four children from Saddar police station of Chiniot. The maternal uncle of the woman, Professor Mustajab Qureshi, had approached the court for the recovery of woman and her children. Expressing serious dismay over the police affairs, the court asked the officer whether he was DPO of public or the rulers.

The court therefore directed the DPO to investigate into the matter and take the responsible police officials to task. The court also handed over SHO Saddar PS Muhammad Younas to the DPO who was kept in court's detention with a direction to take a strict action against him. Amina Ali told the court that her husband Muhammad Ali, assistant cane manager at Ramzan Sugar Mill, was abducted by the police at the behest of the mill's management.
