No doubt that we have become tired of citing the problems. Tell these problems to someone and he will tell you,
Do you have a solution? No? Then shut up.I may not have solutions but i have my senses whom I trust to show me things in their true colors. They made me familiar with corrupt ruling Mafioso and the way they operate and through my visual capability and open-mindedness I have seen a ray of hope in Imran Khan. Indeed, when ideology becomes an ego, mediocrity and stagnancy become inevitable.No deed goes without getting bashed. Good or bad, one will face the wrath of those average intellectuals which insist on mediocrity and present idealism in a way that makes it sound stupid. Misinterpretation has become a direct result of their cynicism.
War on terror has failed. If it couldn’t be won in eleven long years there is no certainty that it will be won in thirteen or fourteen years. The approach has proved a failure because it simply hasn’t delivered. Thus, proving absolutely right what Imran Khan had to say about it eleven years ago when the evil started to hatch. At the end of the day, all those political and military stalwarts agree that the peace and stability in Afghanistan can only prevail if the Afghans want it to.Imran demanded negotiations quite rightly. Those who are not on the same page with Imran regarding his policies might not like it but when one strategy doesn’t work, it only helps the argument for trying another one.Anti-Americanism and religious extremism in Pakistan have raised since 2001. This HAS happened. What is ironical, is our failure to carve out policies which will curb the menace. Does it require intellect to realize that our involvement in the war has contributed to this rise? As long as we don’t pull out of this war, the curse of extremism will rise. The numbers are increasing already at an alarming rate. The more we ignore this problem, the more we help creating space for the non-sense ideologies of people like Zaid Hamid. Our intellectual and educational bankruptcy will not be cured unless critical decisions are taken.Who will take the decisions? Who can take decisions? Your answer may not be Imran Khan. But logic and reason must not be ignored. Lets have a look at Imran’s stance and what he thinks should be done about the above problem.Khan proposes to pull out of the war on terror and stop the drones. This notion is painted with ridicule but I ask what has staying in it given us? The shame of Chicago? Economic dependence? Obama refusing a one-on-one meeting with Zardari and slapping not only him but the whole nation? Drones killing innocents? The shame of May 2nd? Are these prices really worth the reward? And by the way, what is the reward? (Whatever it is, it is not for the poor and oppressed people of Pakistan.)The question that bothers me is that why can’t we pull out of this war? Why are we tangled in this stinking web? And that’s where I see Imran Khan smiling with the solution on his lips.What is the most vital pillar for an independent foreign policy? You guessed it right;
its economic stability and independence. Khan talks about refusing foreign aid, making the state enterprises economically stable, solving issues like energy crisis (which is the major contributing factor in compelling us towards begging and the vicious cycle ensues), and rising the percentage of tax-payers(who in their right mind would doubt Khan’s honesty?).Making us economically stable and independent, Khan points towards pulling out of the war without any danger. Khan talks about getting strong before doing big things, Khan doesn’t want us to demonstrate the state of a weak person whose anger ends in embarrassment. The latest example being the blockade of NATO supply supply routes and the shame of Chicago Summit following it.Khan also rejects the notion of strategic assets. Khan promises to put a permanent full-stop to the use of our land for launching attacks by militants on the US-NATO forces in Afghanistan and supposedly India. The world views us as a breeding ground for militants. It is how we are perceived. But the point is why attract criticism from around the globe? By stopping the militants from going across our borders, what message will we send out to the world if not of peace? By limiting the movements of the militants, we can deal with them in a better way. However, it is very disappointing that this very important stance of his is ignored in the media and is never highlighted.I must ask for the liberty of citing the example of Kashmir here. Until quite recently Indian policy was to crush any resistance from Kashmiris and they did not enjoy there stay there. The anti-India sentiment wasn’t declining. But they made a smart move by giving the Kashmiri people some incentives and started making their life easier. The result of this is right before us. There are groups now in the occupied Kashmir which are pro-India and their number is rising too. Indian policy-makers did not act like fools and realized that a change in policy was necessary and that very change provided them with results. We must follow their examples. If not much, we should at least start treating the people of the tribal areas as Pakistanis. This will, no doubt, have a very long-lasting effect.So call it good or call it bad.
The results of Khan’s strategy will be:
1) A stable Economy
2) An independent foreign policy
3) No militant activities launched from Pakistan across the two borders which will improve our image as a nation.
4) The rise of very much needed sense patriotism in the tribal areas and decline in the number of extremists.
The above analysis may sound very idealistic but my leader tells me,
It was never a realist who changed the world, it was always an idealist.
