He combines two forms of ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE (information theory and DNA) , to prove a religious point. Both these pieces of knowledge were discovered and developed by separate groups/individuals, who had apparently no interest in anything but pure science and maths.. Yet we see how beautifully these can be combined to form a coherent argument in favor of theology.

So, there's no dilemma here, as I see it. The scientists keep coming up with the details of how the universe operates. It's the job of the theologians and philosophers to use these details to EXPLAIN the revelation in modern terms.
