If you had asked anyone who knows a little about cricket and specially Pakistani cricket they would have told you that we would be very luck that with this bunch we would end up anywhere close the semi finals. Trust me that if it was the 50 over world cup then this team would not have been able to make it to the second round.

Two problems with this team - one that they didn't have the talent and the second is that the team leadership and management was mediocre (unlike the 1992 team).

As for miandad's solutions, they seem so simplistic and general. Everyone is saying that we need to change the set up from departmental teams to regional teams but then people talk about where the money would come from and the reason for that was that people in Pakistan still think that the sport is stuck in the 60's and 70's.

What's needed are good administrators who are also business savvy. Need to overhaul PCB from a semi-government entity to an autonomous body run on professional basis and is run like a corporation with an oversight board including public figures of repute, proven business leaders and professional cricketers.
There is no need for the PM (who has no business or brains to deal with cricketing issues) to interfere in board's affair and appoint a crony to return a favor - as in the case of Sethi and Shaharyar Khan.
