Hoisting Pakistani flag on Everest boosted my confidence

(clap)Hassan Sadpara has said if government helps, he can get top Guinness spot in mountaineering.


Hassan Sadpara, the mountaineer who recently conquered Mount Everst, said on Saturday that he planned to climb 14 mountain summits to include his name in the Guinness Book of World Record. Addressing a press conference, he said, “Climbing has definitely been the biggest part of my life.”

Sadpara who hoisted Pakistani and Alpine Club flags on the world’s highest 8,850 meter summit thanked the entire nation.

The 48 year old has the distinction to become the first Pakistani to climb 6 peaks out of the total 14 peaks rising above 8,000 meters.

He said that through the media he would like to convey a message to the President and any other sponsor that he is fully fit energetic and full of techniques. He said that he wanted to scale the remaining eight peaks as well and should be helped in doing so.

Responding to a question Manzoor said no cash award has so far been announced for Sadpara, however Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan has allotted a ten kanal plot to him in Skardu.

Col. (R) Manzoor Hussain, President Alpine Club of Pakistan, has assured a job for Sadpara in Pakistan International Airlines that has been lying vacant for the last two years.

Muhammad Ali Changezi, who was the expedition leader, said that if the government announces any cash prize then it should be for the entire team, because it was a team effort.

Sadpara has become the second Pakistani to climb the Mount Everest, the first Pakistani being Nazir Sabir, the former President Alpine Club of Pakistan who climbed Mount Everest in 2000
