No this happens, they can even be given time off for good behaviour and all, but all of this doesn't accumulate to much. Supposing Nawaz Sharif becomes a sweeper and stays a sweeper for his entire stay and gets 7 days reduction per month thats little over 2 years reduction in 10 years.

Its common practice in many prisons across the world, Also if you disobey prison rules or do any danga fasand inside you can also have your time increased

I don't think the jail superintendent has the authority to reduce punishment on his own. He may recommend reduction for good behaviour but it still has to go through a judge.

Yes, in other countries they have parole boards who decide any reductions based on good behaviour and recommend any relief to the court for final decision.

Certain remissions are allowed as per jail manual and it has nothing tp do with appeal or court. JS, IG and provincial government has powers of remissions in certain cases just like President
