Geo Wins Rs. 25 Million Lawsuit Against ARY Network in a London Court

ARY Network today lost a legal case filed by Mir Shakil Ur Rehman in a London Court.

Mir had maintained that ARY News had been airing news and programs since October 2013 to defame him and his businesses.

Not to be mentioned, case was filed in London as both groups operate and broadcast in UK under licenses granted by OFCOM.

Mir contented that his name was defamed in jurisdiction and hence should be granted relief for UK at least

Court, after hearing both sides decided the suit in favor of Mir Shakil Ur Rehman and awarded him 185,000 in libel damages.

Awarding one of the highest general compensatory awards in recent years, the Judge observed that the broadcasts were unrelenting and calculated to arouse hatred towards the Jang Group among members of the Pakistani community in this jurisdiction.

The Judge also found that ARYs conduct was plainly oppressive, unreasonable and unacceptable.

BBC made a documentary about Nawaz Dakoo but why did he not sue BBC?.In UK you can clear your name and also can be compensated for loss of reputation etc.It is a puzzle why Nawaz didn't sue BBC.The BBC made allegations of corruption,money laundering and fake bank accounts .

I tell you why. If they do they will get more than what they bargain for. There is a legal term "opening the door". So many doors would be open if they try to sue some in the West that Nawaz and family would regret for rest of their lives. These are not Pakistani SCP, here they go with the logic and standard practices. For example,

1- Take recent case discussed in the SCP about the Sharifs flats. First questions would be;

A- What was the income of Mian Sharif that he saved the money to invest in Dubai!!
This alone would prove beyond shadow of a doubt that
i- Mian Sharif has declared only 80 Lacs income in 40 years, that means 2 Lacs a year on average. With this income he feed his extended family and had money left to invest in Dubai!!!
ii there was foreign currency laws in Pakistan at the time, how he transferred the money!! no evidence of any legal money transfer.
iii- The investment is not in their name, they used a front man. That is hiding the assets and income for tax purposes. Another criminal offence.
iii- According to the Pakistani tax laws the income a resident have overseas has to be declared in Pakistan, Sharifs never did, another criminal offence.

This is just on the point of establishing the factory in the UAE. Let alone its sell and the mysterious transfers around the world.
The Sharifs are well and truly screwed if there is any justice in Pakistan. But somehow I doubt that the judges have the balls.

I have written here a week before the case started in the SCP that Nawaz is going to put his father and children in the dock. He had followed what he said in one of his address to the nation that thieves don't keep money in their names.
It was very clear to anyone who understand the laws and taxation laws. I was told that Asad read my comments. Any way PTI has recovered a bit but not wholly. If i were PTI lawyer I would have completely toasted the Sharifs in just one hour. What he needed to do is to describe the Laws and then one by one point to the breach of the laws by the Sharifs. Case finished.
