Food bank for muslims in toronto

Just got an information from ED of East York Wheels on Meals that they are going to start Halal Meal Service in Thorncliffe Park area very soon. They will offer south asian (halal) meals on Tuesdays and Fridays in Thorncliffe Park only. Meals will be delivered betweem noon and approximately 1:30 pm. Meal consists of naan, rice, a vegetable dish and a meat dish. They can offer vegetarian or "no red meat" diets, but no other special diets (i.e. diabetic). Cost is $5.75. The service is available to seniors, people with disabilites, those with chronic or acute illness, and those convalescing.

From a food bank $5.75 / meal is not cheap. Why not cook at home. Food Bank is based on people's donation. It should be free.
Reminded me of eating free food in Sikh Gurudwara's 'Langar' during my student days.
