KARACHI: Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said on Thursday that an Indian request seeking assistance for the recovery of two clerics had been received.
He said the request had been forwarded to the interior ministry, which is actively pursuing the matter.
According to a report in the Times of India, two senior Indian clerics went missing from Lahore on Wednesday.
Asif Nizami and his brother Nazim Nizami, who belong to the Nizamuddin Auliya shrine in New Delhi, were on a religious tour in Pakistan when they are believed to have gone missing from Lahore.
The Indian high commissioner in Islamabad lodged a complaint with Pakistans foreign ministry.
There is a frequent exchange between the Khadims of Nizamuddin Auliya shrine and Data Darbar in Lahore.
