1800 MW power supply was suspended as Tarbela powerhouse tripped after fire in the workshop.
According to reports the drums containing chemicals in the base workshop caught fire and two helicopters are busy in extinguishing the fire.
Experts are trying to remove the technical fault and restore the supply.
A major power breakdown is feared in the country.
