Federal cabinet approves minority quota increase in assemblies

The Federal Cabinet, during a regular session at the Prime Minister House, approved an increase in minority representation in the national and provincial assemblies, Express News reported on Wednesday.


The session, which was presided over by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, also formed a committee, comprising three ministers, for assessing the degree to which this quota will be increased.

Earlier, Minister Incharge for National Harmony Dr Paul Bhattisought more seats for minorities in the Senate, National and Provincial Assemblies, citing an increase in the national population.


The minister also urged the provincial and Fata administration to encourage employment of minority individuals in all public and private sectors.
