I dont know about that but the decision against him in NA 57 is as stupid a decision as it can be. He is right forms are asking about cost of Asset only and not Market Value of Asset. Legally speaking if he would have mentioned MV he would have been in trouble because strictly speaking thats in correct. Also 300,000 as cost in 1974 is by no means a small amount. Just check rupee USD parity in 1974.

One pays tax on what he has earned not what it’s actual market value is going to be in the next 20 years or. It’s a stupid issue being flung around in Media. Asset declaration has a purpose so that politicians do not acquire beyond their means. Elections commission needs to look at Abbasi’s wealth and scrutinise that. He will definitely go to jail if they did that.

In 1974 USD was equal to rupee 4 and 75 paisas.

Which means he bought that around 75000 USD in 1974. Thats very fare amount at that point in time!
