ISLAMABAD:

The Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has revealed its plans for observing electoral processes for the next general election, expected in August 2018, by mobilising more than 22,000 trained non-partisan citizen observers in all National Assembly constituencies. According to a statement, at a gathering of key election stakeholders on Tuesday, FAFEN indicated that it will start observing pre-election processes from April 2018 by mobilising more than 6,000 citizen observers across the country.FAFENs pre-election observation methodology will be based on international best practices, national law, and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) code of conduct for candidates and political parties.

Abiding by the ECP code of conduct for observers, FAFEN observers will report on political alignments, whether there is a level playing field for all political contestants, participation of women and marginalised communities, inappropriate use of public resources, development schemes, postings and transfers, the candidate nomination process, campaign financing and content, political violence, polling scheme formulation and other ECP preparations for election administration, and resolution of election complaints, the statement said.

On election day, FAFEN plans to deploy 16,000 specially-trained and duly accredited observers nationwide. They will observe and report on election management, including whether all polling stations and booths (especially for women) are set up as in the polling scheme, the environment around polling stations including illegal campaigning and law and order, as well as voting, ballot counting and election result consolidation processes.

FAFENs election day methodology will also enable it to produce a Parallel Vote Tabulation for each NA constituency based on vote counts collected directly from a statistically valid sample of polling stations.
After the elections, FAFEN will collaborate with lawyers to observe and study the establishment, proceedings and decisions of election tribunals. Based on this post-election observation, FAFEN will report on the quality and speed with which election result disputes are settled.

Sharifs are thinking all Pakistani are like their supporters which is not true.
Mian Sharif never visited Qatar but he was person friend of Qatri family.
He invested in Qatar without having any writing agreement in cash.
Alhamdu Lillah most of people don't need corruption money to survive and support in return. Just like on this site, the number of supporters of PMLN dropped to 2.

Free & Fair elections with current ECP is just a joke.
Just like Fair & Lovely makes you permanent white is just a joke.

Usual PTIen attitude. Keep mucking thing up. Problems here, problems there, problems above, problems below. But no solution at all.
Full participation of the ultra-siyane (Assad Umar, Shereen Mazari, Arif Alvi and few more) in Electoral reforms committie but could not present anything new to solve the problems. They even did not know what exactly were the problems.

In order to prove the elections are fair, PMLN will present letters from Jasem.

I don't know how supporters of PMLN have even a face to support them now.
Yesterday, they were trending on twitter "MaryamNextPM". LaholWalaQuwat

Solution to all issues is that PTI must buy a press to right letters in Arabic and get a authorization letter from an Arab to sign them.

FAFEN means well, but they do a half hearted job. Perhaps they dont have enough funding.

General elections in Pakistan usually involve around 100,000 odd polling stations. In the last elections, FAFEN had a stated observer strength of around 30,000. This time they are training just 22,000. That means less than a quarter of the polling stations will be monitored.

Typical Nooni mindset. Put every blame on opposition even if you are the Government. Munasib !!!

And YES, there is problem here and there and everywhere in Pakistan's rotten system. Don't you see it .... ?

Don't marring chawals please. Your nooras have been in power for 4 years now, what election reforms have they brought about ? And that election reform committee is nothing but a joke, because nooras don't want any electoral reforms because the current corrupt system suits them just fine.

Now stop that please. It was and is PTI who has problem with current electoral system in which Quaid-e-Azam will not win election from PMLN. And PTI had eqeally and willingly participated in the reform committee joke
Why could not they find a solution for corrupt system.

You mean the one in which the Judicial commission said in its ruling that 35% of the total vote cast does not meet the criteria of a verified and valid vote, the same commission that said the ECP did a piss poor job of conducting the election, the one where the election commissioner himself said he failed or the system where PMLN at one time had more cases in the ECP than PTI, a system where the ECP should resolve all matter in 120 days but takes years so and so forth. Even India can have undisputed electronic voting, but in Pakistan where every voting adult has recorded biometrics on file and carries a MRP readable ID cards and new ones even have a smart chip we are still finding bhoosa and trash in bags. But no of course this is a perfect system because its suits the corrupt status quo so they have no intentions of improving it.
