DECODING THE SCRIPT
If you were ex-General, Musharraf and you were in the same **** as he is in these days, what would you do to save your ***? Keeping in mind that xGM, has the history of pushing the whole country at risk more than once. If he did it repeatedly in the past, he can do it again.
THE SCRIPT:
Try decoding the series of scripted events from xGM's 'Strategic', and self-centric mind set.
It looks highly improbable for the Supreme Court to grant xGM any concession. All evidences are against him and current judiciary has its own independently thinking mind which is less likely to get influenced by external stimuli.
In hindsight, xGMs best bet would be an arrangement which will function over and above Pakistans Constitution. Such a situation can only arise in the event of complete suspension of the Constitution, may it be through Army stepping directly into civilian shoes or through a team of technocrats replacing the civilian administration (as initially demanded/proposed by IK). For Army to step-in, there has to be a mass civil disorder, bloodshed, and chaos, and to create a mass civil unrest, there has to be a choreographer, a catalyst and few actors who can lead, monitor and propel the events in the direction which is best to achieve the desired results.
THE DRY RUN:
Having the process tested during the dry run of Qadri episode during Zardari era, what was needed an icon who appears uncontroversial (obviously Qadri doesnt fit the bill), who is at least charming, if not charismatic, and who is indebted to payback favors to the invisible hands may it be an entity who had been ruling the country directly, most of its life, or rigging the elections rest of the time, or which now spending heavily on marketing / social optics of the entire country to counter independent voices like Geo, and is in process of starting a new TV channel (Bole TV), or a very likely the global guarantors of xGM.
RETURNING THE FAVORS:
The invisible establishment is full of people who had been awarded and/or rewarded by xGM during his time of rule, and who clearly provided him a Safe House during the initial period of treason trial in SC. It is likely that such puppets might have penetrated into Sharifs inner circle to feed him with wrong advice (something evident from the way govt looked clueless at the start of Qadri/Khan drama).
THE ASSULT:
From planning perspective, xGM launched a three (3) way assault to surround, surrender and kill the enemy. Surround Sharifs in Punjab (their strongest foothold, in which 10s of people lost their lives during the initial violent phase of the process), make them surrender in Islamabad by forcing them to step down and letting extra-constitutional team to step-in, and finally kill them once they are out of power. The two (a bit inexperienced) hit-men, Qadri and Khan were supported by seasoned (but discarded) politicians like Shaikh Rasheed and Chowdharis.
HIT-MEN:
Now, two independent looking hit-men, start-off from two independent locations of the country, with two different (apparent) agendas, end-up next to each other in Islamabad, demonstrated least popular street support (subtract the concert nights crowd), entered red-zone together, adopted similar demands and refused to budge, given most of their demands were accepted by the government.
Fortunately, the Sharifs acted sensibly and refused to provide enough bloodshed and civil unrest, a most needed catalyst to provide basis for Army intervention.
GRAND FINALE:
Grand Finale of the Qadri-Khan Drama is in progress, and is gradually approaching its logical conclusion. Usually, real life events differ from the scripted results.
It would be interesting to see if xGM manages to get a chance of relief after putting the country, its economy, and stability at risk once again.
All said above, will also hold true if the script was written by xGMs BIG BOSS.
PARALLEL GOVERNMENT:
The very hazard of having a parallel invisible government is not beyond comprehension. The elected government is visible and answerable to common public, and is under constant microscopic surveillance of media. However, a parallel, independent and invisible establishment is beyond any audit, and functions freely without limits, without accountability.
It may work well as long as PG is focused on strengthening the country and act as a corrective measure. However, in Pakistani context where national benefits are sold every day, a situation may arise when the $ price tag is too lucrative to avoid. Countrys history is full of such events. No need to elaborate it further.
