Pakistan Intl Airlines flight PK 661, operated between sector Chitral - Islamabad crashed shortly after taking off from Chitral Airport. All passengers and crew feared dead.

The CAA investigation is ordered by DG CAA and hopefully soon it will be cleared what actually happened with this Aircraft. However, this particular Aircraft registration AP-BHO was also involved in another accident when On May 30, 2009, PIA ATR 42-500 (AP-BHO) was operating PIA flight PK-688 from Multan to Lahore. During landing at Lahore Airport around 7:40PM, the aircraft skidded off the runway and came to rest on unpaved surface. All 43 passengers and 4 crew members aboard the aircraft remained safe !!

Do this accident had any effect on the current flight or the structure of this Aircraft is still too early to say but I am sure Investigators will look in the history of this Aircraft and its maintenance Log Books.

RIP all who were on-board, sympathies to all families involved.

Pakistan has got a unenviable record of air craft crashes as compared to the air traffic and flight frequency.
Recently there have been a few crashes and near misses .. all points towards a decline of professionalism and growing disrespect of safety in the airlines and regulatory authorities and civil aviation ...

PIA Planes are actually flying coffins. Never fly with PIA.

I can understand your frustration ... however, there are so many mis understandings about PIA, its Pilot and Engineers are well trained and perform their duties properly. There are bad apples everywhere and PIA is no exception. I am sure Both Capt. and FO tried their best to save this Aircraft, some time you just can not do anything and its not in your reach. RIP

Not to forget airports like Chitral, Sakardu or Gilgit are not the easiest of airports. The terrain and weather also plays a big part there, they don't have any of the modern aviation support like ILS, weather radars or even lighted runways, Landing and takes off can only be done during daytime and in clearest of weather and you need real skilled pilots to operate those airports.
