In another democratic countries the change of a general is a normal thing and does not receive much media coverage but in Pakistan since democracy has still not taken roots and the army is still not fully in civilian control the change of a general is naturally a big development and receives a wide media coverage. It remains to be seen whether the new general continues the policies of his predecessor or make changes in it.

Why are they making this change of guard such a big ceremony?

Army's political interference and its role beyond its official responsibilities is now getting cultural acceptance.

This is a bad tradition.

I remember it did'nt use to happen before, it probably started during musharraf times when it was given live coverage and what not.

and new CAOS asked for media support? why??? why does he need media support? does it mean he will run a media cell to "get" media support?

All this is supposed to be outrageous but our awam is actually celebrating it.
