Britons seek to 'move to Canada' after Brexit vote

Google reports surge in U.K. searches for 'move to Canada,' 'move to Gibraltar'

When elections don't go a certain way in the U.S., many voters inevitably utter the slogan, "I'm moving to Canada."Britons on social media also took up the refrain after the result of the U.K. referendum became clear last night.

Is it just me or aren't Desi Brits more conservative than desis living in Canada?
Surprisingly you're asking all kinds of right questions on the forum today.

Desi brits voted leave. How do I know? My sister and my brother in law told me what they voted. Plus, Bradford, which is basically mini-Pakistan, where all residents of that city are all Pakistanis, voted leave. Birmingham (another cavern of desi brits) was supposed to vote remain by a huge margin, but it didn't and it slightly voted leave.

So then your question, with more elboration is, "From the way they have voted, are Desi Brits really that far-right conservatives that they are borderline neo-nationalists and want to make the UK independent of any kind of supernation union (i.e. EU)?"

The answer is "Hell no. Desi Brits are not loyal nationalists to the union (United Kingdom), or even conservatives at all. They vote Labour and are politically liberal. Desi Brits voted leave because they are just jealous of the EU migrants who've come to UK in droves and Desi Brits being the discriminating sh!ts that they are, just won't allow it, even though it's not really affecting them.

That's why I say that this referendum had become a silly Immigration beating drum and nothing else.

But hey, discriminatory politics have such a power that in hate of the eastern European migrants, the "brown sahab" is happy to stand with the discriminatory neo-nazi "white sahab" while being completely blind that this neo-nazi "white sahab" holds more hatred in his heart against the "brown sahab" than he does for the Eu migrants.

That's the (ill)logic of discrimination and how it does(not) work.

I sort of agree, although in 2007 or 2006, 17 of them tried to blow up a parliament, behead the Canadian PM. Now they are locked up.

I have seen similar sentiments of Canadian desis towards the Syrian refugees that Canada accepted...but I meant conservative on social issues like women rights, same sex marriage etc...

btw did your sis and BIL tell you why they voted leave???

Well, in UK Labour is liberal and Conservative party are the conservatives. Immigrants, non-whites etc. always vote labour. Just like in the US they vote Democrates. So politically Desi Brits are liberal. But on the topic of social inter-mingling, they are conservative as hell. Like being anti-lgbt, anti-music, arranged marriages and everything just ridiculously conservative.

More over, I've seen that going to UK makes a fairly liberal Pakistani even more conservative. I can't count how many times I've had the stupid debate of "Halal Chicken or Haram Chicken" with my liberal friends who went to the UK. When they were back home, I'd never heard them talk about namaz, religion, halal, haram, farz, sunnat etc, but all of a sudden being in UK made them hardcore conservatives.

Now to the question why some of my family members voted leave? The answer is that not all of them did. Some voted remain. But the ones who voted leave are the type who hardly have well-formed political opinions and follow the flow of public opinion and this time, anti-immigration opinion was very strong in public. I remember the same family members were crying their hearts out on the credit crunch of 2008, even when they had guaranteed life-long (till retirement age) NHS emplpyment contracts worth more than 75,000 a year (with a 10% increase per year going to 250,000) as doctors.

It is sad that Britain voted this way, but like everyone else is saying, people's opinion has to be respected.

This is interesting....if only more young people had voted as they went for the Remain camp and the older people for out camp..I am noticing it in election after election across the world...we are really having a generational conflict..

Young people are always last ones to come out and vote.

Unless there's some fake-feel-good seduction and "naaras", they just sit out listening to Adele on their iPods as opposed to participating at a real level.

For example, in UK, young idiots would save up on state benefits of 200 a month given to them for being unemployed, book a holiday to to Morroco, buy some fancy handmade souvenir for 1 from a barefoot, mal-nutritioned Morocco kid on the street, upload 20 pictures of their "generosity" on their facebook and "feel" that they have actually changed the world.

Same goes for the young idiots back home as well. Like the girls and boys who come to danci-marches and wiggle it out to their hearts' content and then go home and "feeeeeel" that they have brought a real revolutionary tabdeeli. Same young idiots got fooled 45 years ago by the seductive naaras of Bhutto who sold them communism (a failing ideology) and the young idiots of the day (yes, people of my parents generation), lapped it up like milk and honey.

Conclusion: Young people are just mostly sh!t. You want more proof? Just like the teenagers always have trouble waking up on time in the morning, just like that, the young Brit people have woken up NOW after the results have come out and asking for a re-referendum: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36629324

The British are frantically Googling what the E.U. is, hours after voting to leave it https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...hat-the-eu-is-hours-after-voting-to-leave-it/

Or.. or, (and I heard this analysis from a friend yesterday)... Britons sacrificed themselves in the greater good for sanity to prevail.

(This is how he explained it to me)... You see, Brits made the wrong choice to send a message to Americans to not to do that in November this year. So by deliberately making the wrong choice and then bearing its cruel consequences in coming months, Brits will have convinced the Americans to make the right choice of not bringing Trump in, later on in the year.

Because us Brits (he said), can survive the leave vote, but the world won't survive Trump and therefore, we've done the world a favour by voting leave.

After that, I really wanted to f**king punch him in the face for his arrogant self-serving-denial, but I already have some GBH charges on me and I didn't want to make it any worse for me, so I just sat there and facepalmed my best.

Lolz...didn't know you Britons were such martyrs...you can easily get the heroine lead role in star plus dramas...

anyway, it might just have a domino effect if things don't go too bad for UK in the upcoming months...
