LAHORE: A massive bomb blast by militants at a gas station in Faisalabad, a city in Pakistans central Punjab province, Tuesday killed at least 32 people and wounded 125 others, DawnNews reported.

The explosion also damaged nearby buildings.

An office of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and a local gas station were severely damaged in the blast, AP reported. Police said the attack took place close to the office of a sensitive security agency but the building was undamaged, the AP report said.

Senior government official Naseem Sadiq said explosives were planted in a vehicle parked at the gas station, which also lies near police offices as well as the PIA building.

Regional police chief Aftab Cheema confirmed the attack in Faisalabad, the countrys textile-making capital.

It was a car bomb blast. The explosive was planted in a car. We are investigating whether a suicide bomber was involved or not, Cheema said.

Television pictures showed the station had been reduced to a pile of bricks and gnarled metal as rescue officials worked to remove rubble from the scene to search for survivors and ambulance vehicles ferried the injured away.

City commissioner Tahir Husain told a private television channel that rescue officials were heaving bricks and metal away to save those trapped.

There are some people trapped under the building rubble. We have deployed our cranes and machinery to rescue them very soon, he added.

Husain told a private television channel that no suicide attacker was involved.

It was not a suicide attack. It was a planted bomb blast. The bomb exploded near the gas cylinders that triggered a bigger blast, he said.

Husain said that the attack could have targeted government buildings close to the gas station site, some of which he said were damaged in the blast.

Taliban claim responsibility

The Pakistani Taliban said they carried out the car bombing, an AP report said.

Taliban spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan said the target of the blast was an office of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Ahsan said the blast was revenge for the killing of a militant by security forces in Faisalabad last year.

Pakistan has been wracked by violence, mostly targeting security officials.

Some 4,000 people have been killed in bomb blasts, suicide and gun attacks blamed on Taliban and al Qaeda fighters since July 2007.

The United States has been preoccupied, as ever, more with the power elite of Pakistan than with the plight of its people, which makes it as wrong in its strategy toward this pivotal nation. Washington policies have been self-serving, callous, and even immoral. Pakistan is a country of 170 million people, 60 percent of whom live below the poverty line. Nearly the same are illiterate.

In the last three years, unemployment has almost tripled to 14 percent, with increases in the cost of basic necessities and has thus sparked unrest.

Frenzied crowds in Pakistani streets are calling for death sentence for Raymond Davis (CIA operative who faces a murder trial in Lahore for his January killing of two Pakistanis). Davis is also tied to havoc-wreaking CIA drone strikes. Once again, America is on the wrong side of history. ISI, Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau are all aware of this rising storm in the mind set. How can they go against the people of Pakistan to please CIA? Faisalabad Attack was planned at ISI headquarter in Civil lines and now it’s almost a declared war!

Car bomb kills 32 in Faisalabad
* 125 injured as terrorists detonate explosives-laden car near office of security agency

* TTP says ISI office was targeted in revenge for killing of their colleague

LAHORE: A massive bomb blast ripped through a gas station in Faisalabad on Tuesday killing at least 32 people and wounding 125 others, a private TV channel reported.

The explosion also damaged nearby buildings, including an office of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), AP reported.

AP said the attack took place close to the office of an intelligence agency but the building remained undamaged.

A senior government official, Naseem Sadiq, said explosives were planted in a vehicle parked at the gas station.

Regional police chief, Aftab Cheema, confirmed the attack in Faisalabad, the countrys textile capital. We are investigating whether a suicide bomber was involved or not, Cheema added.

Television pictures showed the station had been reduced to a pile of bricks as rescue officials worked to remove rubble from the scene to search for survivors.

It was a deafening blast. I thought the ground had been jolted by an earthquake. Everybody was running here and there to save their lives, said Hussain.

An administration official at the scene, Liaquat Chatta, told AFP by telephone that the entire stations building collapsed and many vehicles were completely destroyed.

The commissioner told the private TV channel that that no suicide attacker was involved. It was not a suicide attack, he said.

Pakistan has been rocked by violence in recent years, mostly targeting security officials.

Some 4,000 people have been killed in blasts, suicide and gun attacks blamed on Taliban and alQaeda fighters since Pakistan troops stormed Red Mosque in Islamabad in July 2007.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Taliban said they carried out the car bombing, AP said.

Taliban spokesman, Ahsanullah Ahsan, said target of the blast was an office of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Ahsan said the blast was revenge for the killing of a militant by security forces in Faisalabad last year.

Traders and businessmen of Faisalabad have announced to observe Wednesday (today) as a day of mourning against the blast.

A spokesman of Anjuman Tajran City, Faisalabad, expressed deep sorrow and grief over a large number of deaths in the blast and said that all shopping centres, bazaars, markets and plazas would remain close on Wednesday.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani have also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the blast.

Both expressed their sympathies with the families of deceased and with those injured in the incident.

No matter how hard vociferously and forcefully our government, print and electronic media, politicians and western government officials direct and blame, Taliban, Izlamists, Mozlums, Izlamic Terrorists and Izlam for such acts (Exactly the goal of CIA and Americans to make Pakistanis believe), Pakistani people and the nation each and every day is more convinced than the day before that all these acts are being carried out by CIA, Mossad, RAW, MI5 and its hired operatives like Raymond Davis and secret contractor organizations like Blackwater now XE etc.
