Karachi: Almost half of Karachi plunged into darkness when high transmission line developed a technical fault, leaving most parts of the city without electricity, late on Monday.The areas of the city which were affected by breakdown of the electricity includes Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jouhar, Nazimabad, Pehalwan Goth, Hassan Square, Jail Road, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Society, F.B.Area, CAA society, Malir, Gadap and other areas.The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) officials confirmed the breakdown and said that it all happened after a technical fault occurred in 14 grid stations out of 62 across the city.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The KESC officials are working on the sites in order to restore the electric supply, the officials said.[/FONT]
