BLA Terrorists kidnap 22 & martyr 13 on a Bus Bound for Punjab

MACHH: The bodies of 14 out of a total of 30 kidnapped passengers were found from the mountains near Machh in Bolan district, Balochistan Express News reported on Tuesday.

The passengers were on board five buses bound for Rajanpur in Punjab.


According to Dr Kashif, Assistant Commissioner of Machh, normally passenger buses out of Balochistan are escorted with safety personnel. However, a militant attack on an oil tanker in the same area lead to cross fire between the militants and the Balochistan Levies and Frontier Corps (FC), which kept security forces busy.


During the combat, one FC officer lost his life while two others were injured, Dr Kashif confirmed.


Search operations in the area are continuing, the assistant commissioner added while speaking to Express News.


The remaining passengers are still missing and the chief minister of Balochistan has taken notice of the incident.


The Frontier Corps (FC), the security force deployed in the province, has been struggling to maintain peace in unstable areas particularly those affected by ethnic and sectarian violence.

QUETTA: The bodies of the fourteen coach passengers last night abducted and slain near Mach of District Bolan have been recovered Tuesday morning from the nearby mountains.

Mach Assistant Commissioner, Kashif Nabi told Geo News that some unknown armed persons last night abducted 14 persons from two coaches at a place called Kashtari near Mach, whose bodies have been found from the nearby mountains this morning.

All these passengers were shot to death, who are being identified, he said. He further told that all these murdered persons belonged to Sadiqabad, Rajanpur and other areas of Punjab.

Following the incident, the security forces have cordoned off the area and the hunt for the accused was in progress.

One security man was killed and two wounded in a shootout out that ensued as the security forces intervened during the abduction of the passengers from the coaches Monday night.

Nine people still missing after unidentified militants kill 13 of 22 abducted passengers.
Gunmen in Balochistan abducted 22 bus passengers late on Monday, killing 13 and dumping their bodies near Quetta, according to local officials.

Muhamad Kashif, the senior administrator in Mach, said 13 bullet-ridden bodies had been found this morning. “The 13 bodies were found in the Gashtor area of Bolan district,” he told Newsweek. “They have been shifted to Civil Hospital Mach.”

Officials said that unidentified gunmen intercepted a passenger bus bound for Sadiqabad from Quetta, and abducted 22 passengers off the vehicle after checking their national identity cards. “The people on the bus were all returning to their homes in Punjab to celebrate Eid,” Kashif said, adding that the bodies had not yet been identified. Nine abductees are still unaccounted for and no one had claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

“All 13 victims were shot in the head and chest,” hospital sources told Newsweek.

Balochistan is home to a separatist insurgency in which rebels often attack people of neighboring Punjab province in retaliation for perceived injustices against the Baloch.

The gunmen, dressed in the uniform of Pakistani security forces, carried out Tuesday's attack in the Mach area of Balochistan province.


Separatists kidnapped 23 labourers and security forces personnel after blocking the road, with 14 of them being killed in the attack.


Mach is in the Bolan district of Balochistan, about 70km from Quetta, the provincial capital.


"Miscreants blocked the road in two places. First they took away five FC [paramilitary] men from an FC patrol vehicle, tied them up and snatched their walkie-talkies and weapons," provincial home secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani told the AFP news agency.


The rebels then stopped four buses and took away the 23 people. Nine of them, including six security forces personnel, were then released, Durrani told Al Jazeera.


When security forces personnel confronted the attackers, the rebels fired off a rocket that killed one security officer, Durrani said.


"Then they lined them up in the mountains and killed 13 [of the people kidnapped]," added Durrani. Local official, Kashif Nabi, confirmed the incident and said the bodies had been recovered.


"We are making arrangements to bring them to Quetta," he said.


Rebel groups in Balochistan say that the Pakistani state deprives those of Baloch origin of their rights, and have been fighting for independence from Pakistan for decades.


In response, the Pakistani military has carried out a brutal crackdown on such groups.


Durrani told Al Jazeera that authorities would be launching a "special operation" in response to Tuesday's raid.


Violence in Balochistan has been particularly intense since the killing of Akbar Bugti, a Baloch separatist leader who was previously part of the government in 2006.
