The interesting thing is that Ottoman empire survived the defeat and become even more magnificent in the coming 100 of years but Timurlane's legacy was short lived. His empire vanished in to thin air and left no impressions.

Yes after this, Ottaman had defeated the Tamur's son and got their territory. Even his forefathers, Mongol' rule was not lived long.

Taimur Lung aka Taimur the ground shaker. No use of all those battles and victories, in the end died like a sick dog in the middle of nowhere.

Taimor himself was not of pure Mongol lineage , claimed to be related to Genghis Khan but the claim was rejected by the Mongols and he was not allowed to use the Title " Khan" . To polish his image , he married a woman of mongol/Genghis Khan's lineage to put some legitimacy to his Mongol claim . He was of mixed Mongol/Turkic origin.

My person Opinion :
He was basically a Turk himself ( spoke turkic and Persian) but wanted to glamorize himself as equivalent of Genghis Khan by claiming to be related to Genghis Khan ( the claim was always rejected by the mongols)

A good read that substantiate my stance :
