Sardar Qayuum has died , his legacy in real politics is his son Sardar Atiq who is regarded as an effective administrator . Qayuum was close to every president of Pakistan including Zia.
A medical doctor friend of mine was carrying out a routine mental assessment of a patient from Kashmir , he asked her a testing question to ascertain her mental abilities .Doctor said : Who is the president ?, Doctor meant to have the reply Ishaq khan she instead replied SARDAR QAYUUM. This reply demonstrated the reality , for her and for those of us who consider Azad Kashmir as integral part of Pakistan.
With older generation of Kashmiris dying on both sides of the control line , the veneration of Pakistan if any is going to suffer too, Pakistan's options on kashmir was getting narrower and narrower.
