MELBOURNE: Tensions between the cricket teams of Australia and India are certainly on the rise. Giving fuel to fire is a recent statement from the Australian media which termed Indian skipper Virat Kohli as the Donald Trump of world sport.

Kohli has been involved in public spats with Australian skipper Steven Smith. His dismal performance so far in Indias home Test series against the Aussies have certainly given the chance to the Australian media to have a go at him.A piece in The Daily Telegraph likened Indian skipper Virat Kohli to US President Donald J. Trump.

Virat Kohli has become the Donald Trump of world sport. Just like President Trump, Kohli decided to blame the media as a means of trying to hide the egg smeared right across his face, read a paragraph from the piece. The soaring tensions have led to on-field gestures and friction between the two teams. Kohli complained that Australian cricketers had disrespected Indias physiotherapist and made comments against him during the third Test match at Ranchi.

They started taking Patricks (Indian teams physiotherapist) name. I dont know why. Hes our physio. His job is to treat me. I dont find the reason behind it. I could not understand. You must ask why they have started taking his name, he said at a post match press conference. However,

Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar had advised players not to indulge in too much banter and stay focused on the field instead. We should not bother too much about the Australian media and what they write as they are an extension of their cricket teams support staff. The focus now should shift to cricket from off-the-field issues, he said.
