No doubt Pakistan needs experts like Ishaq Dar. But first we need hospitals to treat unknown diseases.

I hope some anchor explains if this rate hike was going to happen anyways or it was only due to the alleged delay in the decision making.

It was clear that IK government was hoping for some funds from friendly countries and exploring other options and doing homework before approaching IMF. I dont really blame them for this.

The blame lies with Nooras ,PPP and to a lesser extent Mush. The tejerba team left an 8% deficit in a desperate attempt to win the election, the baastards should be hanged for treason.

This is the only sane and sensibel comment on the thread otherwise look at the comments above. Please comment on the contents not on his personality , i think little to blame Asad umer as well becaue it a country not a limited company that decisions can be pending without any big consiquences, he should have decided to go to IMF and show the true picture to IK instead of living in deeams and take nation in confidence that this would be last time we need IMF.
Both Us and they need to understand they dont have a magic stick that they solve the 50 year old problems in days but instead of living in deams come out and face the reality.

Because of Bexit in the UK pound devalued from 1.37 to the dollar to 1.17 to the dollar, it can happen not a big deal, it has happened many times before. I also think PMLN and PPP are behind the heavy sell off in the stock market, all these fools are big players and they can make chaos. But it will all recover in no time. The accountability must continue indiscriminately.

I have always raised serious doubt about Asad Umer for a long time now on this Forum. He talks too much. He should start acting rather than talking.
First of all, I said at the time PTI came in to power, he should have placed a moratorium on imports, stop the bleeding first. He should have focused from the first day on dollar's "Cash Flow". Looked at the payment schedule for Loans and Interests payments on loans. And immediately start to make decision from where he is going to plug the gaps in the trade deficit. He has wasted very valuable time.

Even now, he has to do that immediately, just plug the gaps right now, before more leaking happened. Second, he should have issued tax notices and demands to thousands up thousands of people who have properties over 5 crores and above.
As a matter of fact, anyone who is holding and maintaining a big property surely has income to do so. Send them notices of tax demand, let them fight the notices and justify their incomes and expenses.
Inland Revenue in the UK does it all the time. If they know you are avoiding taxes, they would issue an estimated demand. The focus then ships to the tax payer to prove that his income is not that high.
When I was younger, I used to have meetings with IR regularly on Tax demands. You will be surprised, most of their assessments, if not all, were always based on the expenses and life styles. IR would get the details of the person's bank accounts. Movements in it. Check mortgages and other regular payments in the bank accounts. Check where Children are schooling. Their fees etc if they are in private schools. The cars and other equipment used by the taxpayer. In a nutshell, they would make a good assessment of the taxpayer expenses and then issue a tax assessment based on the expenses rather than income. They would then ask the tax payer to justify their income, if they think they are over assessed.

Things have to move quickly. Otherwise black clouds all over. Asad should have never been selected for Finance job, he is a big mouth and a smug.
