Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Partys (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari is set to land at Karachis old Jinnah terminal on Friday afternoon. He remained absent from countrys political scene reportedly on account of a self-exile after a hard-hitting military-bashing speech last year, reported 24 News.
As per Bilawal House in Karachi, Zardari will land at the airport after Friday prayer tomorrow after which he will address a public rally outside the old Jinnah terminal.
It may be noted that seismic waves are expected in countrys political canvas with Zardaris return. There is a building pressure on PPP for being soft on the government at many fronts including the ongoing Panama leaks issue. Nonetheless Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has laid down four demands from PPPs forum to be fulfilled by PMLN government. Although these four demands include the demand on Panama bill to be passed by the parliament yet other opposition leaders including Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed blame PPP for soft pedaling on the said issue.
Among other issues, Zardari is expected to address this issue.
It may be pointed out that PPP co-chairperson is making a return after a change of command in Pakistan Army. Three weeks after outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharifs retirement, Zardari is likely to asses the situation vis a vis military establishment of the country now headed by a new chief. He will assess the situation and redraw lines in partys relation with the military establishment as the Karachi Operation goes on.
Analysts expect that Zardaris stay in the country will not be longer than a week as he may expectedly return to Dubai after staying in the country for a week.
Further it is noteworthy that PPP will observe death anniversary of late Benazir Bhutto on December 27 where he will participate in the death anniversary ceremonies.
Meanwhile PPP is likely to gear up for the next General Elections in 2018 in light of which a change of tack is expected from PPP. From now onward Zardari is said to be the architect of this change.
