Army supports political process in Balochistan: Kayani

Commenting on the situation in Balochistan, Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that the army supports any political process in the province as long as it is within the Constitution of Pakistan, a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated on Wednesday.


The army chief remarked about the developments in the province before he left for Moscow. He will be in Russia from October 3 to 6.

During his three-day stay, Gen Kayani is expected to meet top Russian military and civil leaders to discuss options for expanding military-to-military cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistans military recently came under fire during a gripping hearing on the law and order situation in Balochistan where disgruntled Baloch leader and former chief minister of the province Sardar Akhtar Mengal made his first appearance in the Supreme Court.

Mengal presented before the court six recommendations that include suspension of covert and overt military operations in Balochistan, recovery of missing persons, and disbanding death squads operating under the supervision of secret agencies.

Incapable politicians ruined country. Today we can see that all Govt. institutions have been systematically destroyed by dumb politicians. Pakistan ARMY is the only functional institue. I hate such political system which helps mafia to grow up and ruine economy.

I hope in future people will decide for good brains in Parliament so the doors can be closed for ARMY forever to enterfere in politics.

After all they are the real rulers of this country. Even in 2012, they can arrest the son of prime minister from the gate of Supreme Court. They can issue arrest warrants for nominated prime minister (Makhdoom Shahb-ud-Din) even if his name was not even in the FIR. And ask NAB chairman to do favors and frame some politicians. Their long retired Generals can get re-instated for 4.2 Billion rupees corruption cases so no bloody civilian court can try them and they have a military trial.

Thank You Sir, I as a Bloody Civilian am grateful for your consideration. Have a safe and sound trip to Russia and enjoy as many kickbacks as you want after all we bloody civilians do not have the right to know where our military budget is spent and in which proportions let alone discussion in National Assembly.

RAWALPINDI: Army Chief of Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani Wednesday said in the backdrop of existing Balochistan situation, every constitutional step would be supported, Geo News reported.


Prior to departure for Russia's three-day tour, the Chief of the Army Staff expressing his views on Balochistan situation said that the army would lend support to all such political processes that remain within the parameter of the constitution, according to ISPR.

Kayani leaves for 3-day Russia tour


ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani has left for a three-day official Russia tour on Wednesday here, Geo News reported.

While the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov expected to visit Pakistan this week will be holding broad-based discussions with the Pakistani leadership in Islamabad at the same time.

Gen Kayani’s trip as part of the new efforts launched by the former cold war rivals to open a new chapter in their ties would be holding talks with his Russian counterpart besides meeting with other Russian leadership in Moscow.

The Afghan endgame is believed to be a major factor behind the apparent rapprochement between Islamabad and Moscow.

Pakistan and Russia are increasingly concerned about the future of Afghanistan and that is why they intend to expand their cooperation, said analysts.

A statement issued by the foreign ministry also hinted at this assessment by suggesting that Pakistan and Russia “share the common objective of peace and stability” in the region.
“We attach importance to regional connectivity both in terms of trade and energy cooperation,” the statement added.


Recently, the two countries also held their second Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Islamabad and discussed concrete proposals on various areas of cooperation including energy, industries and production, bilateral trade and investment, scientific and technical cooperation, agriculture, etc.
