The real strength of the Muslim community over the last 1300 plus years has been faith in Allah and a true message which crosses the barrier of Race. But as humans have to live amongst humans several factors have been responsible for Muslims being the most prominent rulers of the known world for two and a half times , spanning about 600 years atleast.
The early Umayyads recognized the importance of seas and Muaviya and others gave Muslims the victory of "Battle of the Masts" which removed Byzantines as the sole power of the seas.
Similarly Ottoman sultans made good navies and dominated seas but in my view Mughals did not understand the importance of controlling seas till Aurengzeb came but it was too late and in which Portuguese, English and Dutch did well. Even now apart from Somali pirates no one in Islamic community is understanding the importance of seas.
Muslim countries today have six weapons :-
1) Population and area (1/4th humanity at 2 billion and atleast 30 countries
2) Oil wealth
3) Coast line extending from just above Liberia in West Africa to entire upper africa , red sea , many parts of indian ocean, persian gulf and atleast two or three other small seas . The Muslim coast line is atleast 21000 miles and spans across most important trade lanes of the world.
4) Education
5) A nuclear power like Pakistan.
6) Centralized systems like monarchies and dictatorships in some countries as Muslims did well under sultans i.e centralized powers.
One of the reasons Musharaf was kicked out was his idea disliked by west of launching Nuclear weapon armed submarines . This idea is very fatal to western domination as Many countries in Muslim coastline can develop such offensive weapons from Senegal to Morocco to Red sea to Indian ocean to far East , all reversing important trade routes .
