you remember correctly... certain circumstances it is better to have death penalty over life sentence, in others where kids are concerned not so much....I think where kids are the victims, it would do more harm than good...

I don't know how it is in Pak but in Western countries in most cases the death penalty costs the state more than a jail sentence does...

Having lived in western countries for the most part of my life, I'd say that's hearsay.
Can you elaborate? Provide references?
You're convicted you meet the chair, what's so expensive about it? Are you saying the burrial/cremation is more expensive than feeding a criminal for 40 odd years? lol

You can read this report by Amnesty USA referencing various studies and audits across the US (https://www.amnestyusa.org/issues/death-penalty/death-penalty-facts/death-penalty-cost/)...

The reason they are more expensive is that more labour hours by attorneys go into death penalty trials, juries are more expensive, trials are lenghtier/costlier etc...

Don't agree. All cases where the victim is a minor it should be death penalty.
A rapist would not want to be caught whatever is the type or quantum of sentence. Just because it is say life sentence instead of death penalty, he will not spare the child's life if he doesn't want to.

If someone wants to exhaust the judicial system they can do so by constantly filing appeals against their conviction till their chances run out even if it's life imprisonment.
It's a different ball game and understandable if a deal is made in case they want to recover a body or something along those lines which I don't agree with either but I digress
