A SLAP ON THE FACES Of SECULAR OF PAKISTAN

Here is a news worth sharing on the main political section rather than international section.
Many Pakistani journalists and HR activists try to claim Pakistan was intended to be a Secular Country.

Indian secular state throw many punches on their faces regularly, but alas, these misguided or purposefully ignorant
people keep ignoring all the evidence that India is not secular at all.

But now, surprisingly mother of democracy and beacon of Secular state is declaring that it is historically a "Christian state".
What Pakistani secularist would do now?

Theresa May 'planning changes to immigrant test'

_60504463_014822794-1.jpg

Home Secretary Theresa May is reported to be planning changes to the test taken by foreign nationals who wish to become British citizens.
The Life in the United Kingdom test was introduced by Labour in 2005.

The Sunday Times says immigrants will be told "historically the UK is a Christian country".
The revised version will focus less on the practicalities of daily living in Britain and require more knowledge of British history and achievements.
Inventions and discoveriesThe paper says immigrants will also have to learn the first verse of the national anthem before they can become UK citizens.

Mrs May is understood to have scrapped sections of the test which dealt with claiming benefits and the Human Rights Act.

Instead potential immigrants will be expected to learn about Byron, the Duke of Wellington, Shakespeare and other historical and cultural figures.
The new version of the handbook, expected to be issued in the autumn, will include sections about key battles, such as Trafalgar, and British inventions and discoveries.

A Home Office spokesperson told the BBC: "Putting our culture and history at the heart of the citizenship test will help ensure those permanently settling can understand British life allowing them to properly integrate into our society."

The handbook is the basis of a 45-minute test which potential citizens can take at one of 90 centres around the UK.
Sultana Razia, who came to the UK from Bangladesh five years ago, has already failed the test once in her quest to become a British citizen.
"If you want to live here, you have to know all the information - all the rules and the way of living here and the culture here," she told BBC News.
"The test is important, it's quite hard but it's important."
Alp Mehmet, vice chairman of the Migration Watch think tank, welcomed the planned changes.

"People are almost encouraged to see what they can get out of the country rather than what they can contribute," he told BBC News.
"And I think that the emphasis moving towards people having an understanding of the country they're joining effectively - becoming citizens of - is absolutely right."

But Habib Mirza, who runs citizenship courses at BSGS College, in Whitechapel, east London, said proposed changes would represent "a massive barrier for anybody who wants to settle down in the United Kingdom, the vast majority of whom cannot speak English anyway".

"People who do speak English, who are born and brought up here, we would find it very, very difficult to pass so how will they pass?"

And he said asking people from non-Christian backgrounds to learn the National Anthem "might be against their religious beliefs, it might be against their personal beliefs" and it was therefore "unfair".

You are dragging this issue with some extravagance. Lets take a hard look at our Pakistani Flag.... Take a deep look. What do you see...???
Do you see White stuff on the flag, do you know what it means.

Right now, we in Pakistan for the last 20 years facing a new some thing that is not Islam, but labeled as Islam. We have a duty, Protecting our Minority, protecting our ideology, protecting our kids and future from Radicalism all this does not constitute being labeled as Secular.

Your post is insulting for all those families who have lost family members... in this fight against Taliban. Now buzz off....

Theresa May is correct. Immigrants wanting citizenship of Britain have to know the laws, culture and adjust to it the way brits are. If immigrants do not like it they can go back to their respective third world countries and enjoy the benefits of misery.

In Pakistan we would want all Pakistanis to act like Pakistanis knowing our rules, laws and culture.

So you are saying that it is a lie that Britain is 'historically' a Christian state?

Do you think pointing out a factual piece of history of a country and telling foreigners to learn about it if they live in their country is somehow a debasement of human rights?

Will learning that Britain was 'once' a Christian country convert someone to Christianity?

Dont confuse history with religion.

Yes you are right.then why qadiyanies have pain in their a*s*s,,,,,,,,when Pakistan make some legislation

There is a difference between knowledge and knowledge being used to commit heinous crimes towards humanity. You can have knowledge about knives and use them to cut vegetables or stab other human beings.

Racism was an issue in the UK and the west. It still exists in many forms. There is a difference between knowing about the subject of racism so that it can be prevented and using it as a pretext to start killing innocent muslims, jews, sikhs and hindus from various nationalities.

Idiocracy battery needs to run out some time but a lot of members on this website are turbo charged for life.

I could call u diff names based on just your profile picture, but I wouldn't. What would be the difference between you and me then!
Did my comments included anything on minorities? Or did I ever said minorities shouldn't be treated equally in Pakistan?
I only wanted to demonstrate what that news means, and why Secular's in Pakistan make an issue of religion of Islam for the majority of People.

Comments made by others are wrong too, those who think I am objecting to Britain wants to demonstrate its Christians roots.

The jest of the comment is, if Britain can proudly call itself a "Christian" country, now or in the past, then why the Seculars are hell bound to make Pakistan what it is not?

Come on guys, we know there are many writers in Pakistan who openly write about their dislike of Islam and Islamic system.
Why they cannot be proud of being Muslims and their country Islamic state?
After all even Uncle Sam proudly proclaim "In God we trust".

I am not confusing anything. read the comments I posted above in response to Han's comments. British can call themselves proudly that they have "Christian heritage", why Pakistani cannot demonstrate and accept their Islamic heritage. They created a country on the name of Islam, but the secularists try to make the point, repeatedly, that Pakistanis should be ashamed of their heritage.

So you follow their lines as you are not able to apply your own mind. Pakistan ka secular apna mind apply karne ki baat kartna hai ... kisi christian turned secular state ko follow karne ki baat nahi karta.

You are right, i think everyone is right in their basic statement but we are just making it a mess with some unnecessary arguments, I think nobody has any confusion in the name of the country "Islami jamhoria of Pakistan". Why do we still have to tag some specific keyword(secular) with Pakistan we dont need it, Pakistan is an Islamic state where Muslims are in majority living with people from all religions races and cultures, there should be equal rights for everyone.
I could call u diff names based on just your profile picture, but I wouldn't. What would be the difference between you and me then!

Can you point out where a secularist stated that we should be 'ashamed' of our heritage?

I'll tell you what, lets make us a secular state but let us teach our kids to take pride in being Muslims. How does that sound?

You are entitled to your opinion and suggestions.
As for secularist stating "ashamed"of our heritage, there are many who writes and fume in the talk shows.
A good example is media darling " Hassan Nisar" the way he belittle and distort Islamic history is beyond jokes.

Yea I thought you would take his name...distorting history is a job being done by our state.
