This speech by Mian Mumtaz Muhammad khan Daultana , the head of the so called Council Muslim league is a gift to modern Muslim leaguers (what ever faction ) as it outlines the philosophy of the party in a gem like language
?
. Daultana was amongst the younger leaders of Pakistan movement in the Punjab .He has the distinction to be offered CM (Premiership) of Punjab by Mr.Jinnah himself of which he shyied away.
?
He was also one who was made victim of first Anti Ahmediyya uprising by probably Sikander Mirza when he was CM Punjab. He briefly held some other posts as well .
?
After poor performance of Muslim leagues factions namely , council (Daultana) , convention (Ayub) and Qayuum in 1970 elections , he took up assignment as ambassador to UK by Bhutto . Qayuum league joined Bhutto Wagon too as interior minister.Members of both Muslim league factions were stolen by PPP. Qayuum resigned shortly before army coup.
?
Daultana was amongst the educated lot amongst earlierst politicians which probably was a disqualification even then as now in politics .
?
If I am not wrong this is the speech which was telecast on TV (B & W) in the runup to the fateful 1970 elections. At that time TV ran from 6 -9 pm on most days and offcourse a child would prefer programmes like flipper. I did see it then too .
The nation then was not in a serious mood and needed no advise or such sober men. Nation wanted "Damma Dam Mast kalander" Bhutto style.
East Pakistan broke soon after and Daultana speech offered a good frame work of a united Pakistan .

Lolz only someone who does not know about politics will twist historical facts. Mumtaz Daultana's brother was supporting PPP in 1970 elections. His relatives Late Azeem Daultana & Natasha Daultana have both been PPP MNAs in the previous PPP tenure.

The ideas of Daultana about importance of Muslim league are nice and worth hearing for 30 minutes in the links above.
