Ahead of Commonwealth Games, 61 Explosive Laden Trucks Go Missing in India
Reports of four of these missing trucks being found near the Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh border on Saturday but without explosives have further enhanced fears of security agencies that the consignment may have landed in wrong hands.
The 61 trucks carrying about 300 tonnes of explosives like gelatine, detonators, fuse and emulsion worth over 1.39 crores were sent from the Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Limited (RECL) based in Dholpur between April and June this year. The trucks reportedly never reached its destinationGanesh Explosivesin Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Limited has claimed that it can't be blamed for this disappearance as it sent explosives only in trucks authorized by the company.
"We hand over the explosives to those who have the license. And they then dispatch it on their truck. Now, whatever happens to that explosive thereafter, we are not responsible for that," Y.C. Upadhyay of the company said.
