the author is a complete idiot and the article is full of rhetoric and emotional dialogues .. he painted the picture that Afia is the most innocent of all and Afridi is the biggest demon ever.
Dr. Afia Siddiqui went to USA to further study and after doing her PhD opted to take American citizenship .. she was not on a visa or a green card but an actual citizen of USA. That is why instead of incarcerating her in Guantanamo bay like the rest of Non-US citizens she was brought to NewYork and went through the justice system of USA. Her trial was open court, with full access to attorney and defence. She was given a sentence after due process and the state proved beyond doubt of her involvement. She had the right to appeal and is eligible for parole in due time. She is being kept in a prison like a common criminal and not incarcerated in solitary confinement. So every idiot who thinks she is innocent should think about it. Secondly every idiot who thinks she is "Pakistan ki Baiti" should also think that she betrayed her birth place for an American Passport (though she is a dual national).
About Dr. Afridi - I agree that he helped Americans to track down OBL - but consider also that OBL was worlds most wanted. He was an enemy of Pakistan as much as USA. I dont go into conspiracy theories but the fact is that he did a big favour to Pakistan in getting that ******* killed.
I am totally against exchanging Afia (who is an American) with Afridi (who is still a Pakistani) - let each face their own courts of law

امريکی حکومت نے اس کيس کی سماعت کے دوران تسلسل کے ساتھ اس موقف کو دہرايا تھا کہ يہ کيس دونوں ممالک کے مابين کوئ سفارتی يا سياسی کيس نہيں تھا۔ ڈاکٹر عافيہ کے خلاف سرکاری چارج شيٹ سے بھی يہ واضح ہے کہ ان پر امريکی فوجی پر ہتھيار استعمال کرنے کا الزام لگا تھا اور اسی جرم پر انھيں سزا ہوئ۔ ان کے خلاف نہ ہی دہشت گردی اور نہ ہی سياسی حوالے سے کوئ الزام لگايا گيا تھا۔ ان کے مقدمے کا فيصلہ ملک ميں رائج قوانين کے عين مطابق کمرہ عدالت میں کيا گيا تھا۔
اس کيس ميں امريکی حکومت کی مبينہ مداخلت کے حوالے سے کافی کچھ کہا گيا ہے ليکن حقيقت يہی ہے کہ اس کيس کے حوالے سے ايک متعين کردہ قانونی فريم ورک سے ہٹ کر امريکی حکومت کے پاس نا تو کوئ اختيار ہے اور نا ہی ہمارا ايسا کوئ ارادہ ہے کہ انھيں کسی بھی مبينہ سياسی ايجنڈے يا مقصد کے ليے "استعمال"
