We stupidly fell into the generals trap of creating an enemy of India, and with such a huge enemy at our borders, the generals always held the true power of the country.

If we didn't fall into this stupidity, we would be like USA and Canada now. But seems like we are too far off gone on both sides for that to ever happen now.

This situation has not developed overnight but after decades and decades of "jurnailism" which just fanned the extremists on other side too.

Did you know there was no visa required to India before the 1965, just needed a permit which one could get easily, lots of trade was happening. At one time both countries were even thinking of giving each other most favoured nation in regards to trade.

Our jurnails needed a huge enemy at the border to keep their importance and most of all to keep their power and money. Just like every couple of decades the US needs to "liberate" a country from an oppressive regime to keep its military industrial complex going.
