Hats off to New Zealand for making a match out of it. They were just 16 runs away from winning, and that is saying something.

No dude, they were not 16 runs away from winning. Pakistan still had one inning left.

NZ was 16 runs away from finishing the trail and starting the lead.

Had NZ made 16 runs .. Pakistan wud have surely lost it.. they can't chase second innings.. even if it is 0 run ..

Aah......I learned something new. Rather, cleared a misconception. I always thought that one a team forces a follow on, it surrenders it's right to the second inning. Thanks for the correction

No worries, from our wikipedia source :)

The order of innings in a match where the follow-on is enforced is as follows:
  1. team batting first,
  2. team batting second,
  3. team batting second,
  4. team batting first.
This contrasts with the conventional order of innings (when the follow-on is not available or not enforced):
  1. team batting first,
  2. team batting second,
  3. team batting first,
  4. team batting second.
