I don't understand why the thread starter moved to taweez ganda from nile. These are two very different things. For people whi are interested, there is a very strong possibility that taweez ganda business from very start was due to the influence of Jews (who might have gotten it from ancient Egyptians). Some sects within Jews believed that words have power of their own, meaning that if you say some words or write some words the power within them can be utilized. This power is within the words and independent from the person who writes or says them. Taweez is the same thing, some words on a piece of cloth or paper are supposed to save the wearer from bad things or bring good luck. Why Muslims indulge in this when we believe in an omnipresent God whom we can call on for any need, is beyond me.

The sect we call Sunni are composed of many groups and that was understood at the time the term was coined. These groups of Sunnis have difference of opinion in many matters and don't necessarily share same views on everything. But what did you call tabarah in the post you referred the line about 'nam nihad ulma and peers'?

میرے اس تھرڈ کا مقصد صرف یاد دہانی اور اپنی عظیم ہستیوں کے کارناموں اور ان کے طریقہ حکمرانی بیان کرنا تھا
یہاں اس موضوع پر مسلمانوں اور غیروں کے درمیان عقائد کی بحث کرنا مقصود نہیں ​

i just dont want long argument but i think he is refering hazrat umar r.a letter to river as "taweez ganda" otherwise i have no issue that superstitious practices are curse to humans.

میرے اس تھرڈ کا مقصد صرف یاد دہانی اور اپنی عظیم ہستیوں کے کارناموں اور ان کے طریقہ حکمرانی بیان کرنا تھا
یہاں اس موضوع پر مسلمانوں اور غیروں کے درمیان عقائد کی بحث کرنا مقصود نہیں ​

اسکا ریفرنس دے دیں ساتھ کہ اپ نے کہاں سے یہ پوسٹ نکالا ہے - کونسے اسلام میں ہیں ایسی باتیں کہ دریا کو خط لکھنے سے اس میں پانی آجاتا ہے- اگر یہ بات قران اور سنت میں نہیں تو پھر اس کی کیا ضرورت تھی یہاں پوسٹ کرنے کا؟ اگر یہ قران اور سنت کے مطابق ہے تو مجھے کوئی اعتراز نہیں بلکہ ہماری علم میں اضافہ ہوگا

مجھے کسی کے فرقے پر کوئی اعتراز نہیں جو کچھ بھی قران اور سنت کے مطابق ہے وہی میرا دین ہے بغیر ریفرنس اور ثبوت کے مخالفت میں نہیں کرتا لیکن سمجھنے کی کوشیش ضرور کرتا ہوں
