Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued short notice on the Arsalan Ifthikar’s alleged Graft case, stating that Malik Riaz, Arsalan Iftikhar and Salman Ahmed will face trial.
Justice Jawad S.Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the case and later dictated the ruling here on Thursday.
Justice Khawaja said that Malik Riaz admitted that he spent Rs. 340 million to purchase justice by offering bribes which is a severe crime but his attempts failed.
The act of bribe is punishable, Justice Khawaja said.
The truth should come out and no one is guilty until proven, adding that Malik Riaz, Salman Ahmed, and Arsalan Iftikhar should get a fair trial which is their basic right, he added.
Media personel should not allow themselves to be used by such people who do not respect the law and constitution, the order said.
Justice Khawaja further stated that no one is above the law.
“Malik Riaz’s advocate is playing delaying tactics”, Justice Khawaja said.
Justice Jawad S. Khawaja remarked that the case would not be sent to NAB nor would there be a commission formed.
“God is guardian of the institution of judiciary which is not under any threat,” Justice Jawad said.
Concluding its order, the Supreme Court directed the Attorney General Irfan Qadir to take strict action against Malik Riaz, Salman Ahmed and Arsalan Iftikhar.
The Attorney General in his reply said that he will do whatever is according to the law.
