It was actually establishment who backed off only 50% from rigging (which they usually do) and allowed PTI to win 116 seats.. then they realised that IK might take full majority so they stepped in (KHWAJA ASIF PRIME EXAMPLE) and started tampering the results.. so yes DAST E SHAFQAT iss tarah to tha, no doubt

some say Junoobi Mahaz & few other joining made the different. Yes, this is true but look they still stand with Khan.

The only ppl who ditched were Aleem / Tarin & the people they brought with them. So its clear that the only control establishment had over Khan was through these puppet. who IK clearly identified but it was too late.
