Talat sahab as bad as the politicians are, media has also been a senseless circus.
1. When Musharraf allowed licenses for electronic media the only discussion we heard for years was how dumb the politicians of PMLN & PPP are that due to their constant fighting Army has to come forward to center stage. That was the message those days, real hurdle to democracy is the behavior of politicians. Now when Nawaz (PMLN) has finally shown some maturity and is willing to give PPP a full tenure everyone is on PMLN case! Now to prove their loyalty to Pk PMLN must over throw the government. There is no regard for people who using their constitutional right voted for PPP, no thought given to the fact that if PMLN does play such a role Punjab will be again accused as an oppressor of smaller provinces and finally no thought given to the fact that it is in Army's interest to over throw PPP govt. a continued democratic process will result in strengthening democratic institutions and will result in limiting Army to barracks.
2. PPP has the right to forward any name for the post of Prime-minister, they have the majority in house and they enjoy this majority because of public votes. Having an opinion is something different but media is now acting like PPP owes them and must obedient to their wishes. If Raja is such a bad choice people won't vote for PPP again. This is the way democracy is supposed to work, why create such a fuss about it?
3. The maturity of media is visible from the fact that when Zardari went to Dubai there was a storm of accusations about how Kayani made him resign on gunpoint, how Zardari has actually escaped to Dubai, How Zardari had brain hemorrhage some even sweared he is paralyzed. After Zardari came back all smiling and in good health did anyone had the courage to apologize to the public they have been fooling? Media has there own financial experts for reporting on stock markets did they really tried to know that how much these stories damaged the stock market? Why don't you do a program on that.
4. For nearly 4 years now every month there is another conspiracy theory how PPP is about to be overthrown, such garbage is properly packaged and distributed via the most well known media houses. Does anyone care how this false propaganda reflects on Pakistan? How much it damages Pakistan's economy and worst of all how it creates an atmosphere of demoralization and lawlessness within Pakistan? God knows I dislike PPP but they really are a victim of this media! It really unfortunate that in their shortsightedness they don't see they damage Pk when they go to that extent against a party of federation.
5. Rather then doing Matam on present state of politicians its much better if you focus on shortcomings of media. An unbiased, responsible and professional media will benefit everyone.
