All depends upon admin and honesty of will....

100 applications for a job doesn't seem a big deal. In UK to receive 80 to over 100 applications for a job is common. I know there was a job of 2 hours a day and they received over 80 applications for that position. Even it had only total 10 hours in a week but still there were so many applicants.
I think due to tight economy people are trying hard to get hold on jobs.

Current Uet VC is a great man, he finished the influence of political parties from uet, he renovated all the hostels one by one, he gave uet numerous new buildings, uet have highly sophisticated labs, he promoted research among students as well as in professors. I say he is the iron man of education. 85 years old man and still more energetic than youth.
He was working hard on solar power. I believe that only he could make this solar power project succesful, no other professor can.

Dr Fiaz Shah is an honest man also. I think he is best substitute. But still nobody matches Sir Akram Khan. Here is his official profile. I will soon start a new thread on the great services of Sir Akram.

I have studied from Dr Fiyaz .. Very nice person

10 years ago, when I was attending his lectures (MS Thermal.), during every lecture he had a special segment of refreshing stories, and all stories started with the sentence, "when I was in America,..."
There was a clear division among the faculty members who have doctorate from USA and those who got doctorates from UK.
A decent man but not very energetic to run a university where everyone wants to be the VC. In simple words, he is not dabangg, and it would be difficult for him to keep the deans of faculties in control.

Right.........
"Fiaz, I want to jump into the water"
I have heard those stories a thousand times also.
It is true that he is an honest man but still not suitable for such a huge management seat.
I have studied Ms Design subject from him.....
Please accept my friendship request.......

"Fiaz, I want to jump into the water"

The suicide "attempt" story of the Chinese doctoral fellow ... at that time I laughed when Dr. Fiaz told this story, but after a couple of years I suffered the same fate .. just wanted to jump in Rhine (/Rhein), because I also wrote 4-5 thousands line code for FEA and there was no hope for the result.

Yes it is the same story you are mentioning.......
Now a days, he does not tell this story.
All the time he advices the students that Pakistan and Muslim world needs you, only you are the hope for us, get up and use your knowledge for pakistan...
Also he is now a big fan of General Musharaf.

We used Ansys for FEA, . It is a very expensive software though....
I have shifted to linux now, if you like, you can have a look on ubuntu FEA software here
I am suggesting Salome for FEA, I have not used it yet but it has a huge fans on web
