nikah and "mahwar"(monthly expenses) for wife. a query

one of my closest relative is getting married . but there came a dead lock on nikah issues that on the issue of monthly expenses provided to wife. i need some help from you guys .any personal experience or any information source is "mahwar" (monthly expense) given to wife part of nikah nama...
