Zoos should be shut down. It is cruelty to animals

Zoos are to animals as jails are to humans except that humans are put in jail for some crime while animals are put in zoos for no fault of theirs.
Whoever first thought of the idea of setting up a zoo was certainly not a good human being. Keeping helpless animals in captivity for pleasure is a low of mankind.
Zoos all over the world should be closed down and the captive animals released into their natural habitat. Pakistan can take the initiative and set an example. It would also be in accordance with the teachings of kindness and compassion to animals as professed by Islam. The Govt has done well to transport a miserable elephant suffering in Islamabad zoo to it’s natural habitat in Cambodia. God will definitely reward the person(s) who took mercy on the animal.

I think the best bet would be to have big Safari parks like in Tanzania where animals live in the open and people enjoy watching them while riding in specially manufactured trams and buses.

Might be the second best bet!. The best being to not captivate animals in any form not even in Safari parks. Let them live as they are supposed to. Nowadays we have so much of options for entertainment. We can even see all kinds of animals in their natural habitat and form on our screens. Why should we need live captive ones just to watch them.
